Job summary

TC Group, a fast-growing Top 20 accountancy firm, is seeking a Tax Manager or Assistant Manager for the Northampton team. In this role you will manage a diverse client portfolio, review tax returns, and identify opportunities for advisory work while coaching junior staff in a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience at Manager level in practice across mixed tax compliance and some advisory.
• Strong client handling skills and the confidence to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
• Technically curious and commercially minded — you enjoy advising, not just filing.
• Qualification such as CTA / ACA / ACCA / ATT (or qualified by experience).
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A proactive and solutions-focused approach; commitment to delivering excellent client service

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio across a range of client types (e.g., owner-managed businesses, larger corporates and groups including cross border tax considerations).
• Review and oversee high-quality delivery of tax returns and computations, ensuring technical accuracy and deadlines are met.
• Identify risk areas, improve processes, and ensure consistent standards across the portfolio.
• Spot opportunities in the client base and proactively raise them with Partners/Directors.
• Translate complex tax into clear, practical advice clients understand.
• Coach and support junior team members; review work and develop capability.
• Contribute to a collaborative culture and help strengthen technical and service delivery standards.
