Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Tax & Policy Manager to join a team of 13+ finance professionals responsible for tax compliance, planning, reporting, analysis, and internal audit management. This senior role includes managing direct reports, strategic thinking, risk and opportunity identification, and proactive collaboration. The salary is up to £60,000 DOE, with a 10% annual bonus, and flexible hybrid working options.

About the role:

The role reports to the Head of Corporate Insight & Value within the Corporate Insight & Value team in London. The successful candidate will lead tax compliance, planning, reporting, analysis, and internal audit activities, as well as governance of the policy framework.

Responsibilities include overseeing all tax compliance activities, managing the corporation tax and VAT returns, leading the internal audit program, and ensuring governance of policies via the policy hub.

You will:

  • Challenge stakeholders on best practices
  • Lead improvements in policy framework, internal audit, and tax compliance using latest systems and tools
  • Manage corporation tax compliance, coordinating with external suppliers to meet deadlines
  • Coordinate policy production and stakeholder accountability
  • Manage a team of 2 colleagues, including coaching and performance management
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Interim Head of Corporate Insight & Value

What you will bring:

  • Practical experience in financial accounting and internal audit
  • Excellent knowledge of tax accounting and compliance, including capital allowances and gains tax
  • Ability to translate proposed changes into practical processes
  • Stakeholder-focused approach, continually improving stakeholder experience
  • Recognized finance qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with ideally 3+ years PQE
  • Leadership skills to prioritize resources, remove obstacles, and empower the team
  • Stakeholder management experience, including with senior stakeholders and executives
