In this challenging, interim role, you’ll be part of the newly formed Talent Centre of Excellence (CoE) and will report to the Senior Talent Strategy Manager.You’ll be a key contributor to the strategic direction of Santander, focusing on areas such as, talent strategy and frameworks, succession planning and internal mobility as well as skills based and leadership development. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping best-practice talent strategies in partnership with our CoE teams and the broader People & Culture function.
We are looking for a strategic thinker with relentless curiosity who will push boundaries and play at the forefront of shaping the talent landscape in a dynamic team. Working alongside passionate and experienced experts in a collaborative environment, you’ll drive value back to the business, provide positive customer outcomes, and contribute to shaping organisational talent.
The difference you’ll make:
Supporting the definition and build of the multi-year and near-term strategy and framework for Strategic Talent, Learning, Recruitment & Onboarding and Strategic Workforce Planning
Providing thought leadership by maintaining advanced, in-depth knowledge of the industry, including best practices, data analysis, trends, policies and principles
Undertaking cyclical policy reviews, embedding a process simplification mindset to ensure a customer first approach, whilst ensuring compliance with local and global policies and frameworks
Analysing complex data sets to tell a story with data that is impactful, drives actions, inform business decisions and enhances talent outcomes
Engaging with Group peers to successfully influence and translate the Global vs Local strategy
Facilitating formal reporting requirements as required including Executive Committee, Board and Nominations Committee papers
What you’ll bring:
These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:
Previous experience in a Talent Strategy role within a complex, global institution
Demonstrable experience of defining and delivering talent strategy combined with the ability to analyse and apply external market trends to inform internal practices
Broad technical subject matter expertise on Talent, Learning, Recruitment & Onboarding and Strategic Workforce Planning
Excellent interpersonal skills to inspire trust and alignment across all levels of the organisation
It would also be nice for you to have:
Familiar with working in an agile framework with the ability to tolerate ambiguity and on-going change
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload to ensure deadlines are met
CIPD qualified with a degree, or equivalent, in Human Resources or related field
What else you need to know:
This 12-month fixed-term contract role is based in Milton Keynes.
We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).
If you apply for this role, it’s important you consider your travelling distance, time and cost from your home to the office location. We’re happy to discuss specific working patterns and arrangement within this hybrid approach during the recruitment process.

How we’ll reward you.
As well as a competitive salary, you’ll enjoy a benefits package that you can tailor to your needs. For contract roles, your salary, bonus (where eligible) and certain benefits will be prorated to reflect your contract duration.
We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don’t contribute yourself. We’ll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer.
30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year.
£6,000 car allowance per year.
