Job Summary

Take Art is looking for an experienced and highly organised General Manager to play a key role in the effective day-to-day running of our organisation

Job Description

Take Art is a pioneering Somerset-based arts charity delivering high-quality performances and participatory experiences across Somerset and the South West. We work with artists, communities, venues and creative partners to bring a wide range of arts activity to people across the region.
This wide-ranging role is ideal for someone who enjoys contributing across an organisation and can confidently manage processes, systems and competing priorities. You will lead on HR, finance and office management.
You will manage all the HR needs of the organisation, while ensuring policies and procedures are up to date and compliant. You will also oversee financial administration and financial reporting, using Xero. As part of the role, you will oversee office systems and procedures, supplier contracts, IT requirements, Health & Safety, safeguarding and database management.

You will also help co-ordinate projects by supporting meetings, communications, running events for a range of projects across the organisation, working with colleagues, artists, venues and external partners.

You will also manage the collation of board reports from specialism directors, including finance reports along with organising, attending and minute taking of evening Board meetings 5-6 times a year as well as acting as Company Secretary and communicating with the Charity Commission where necessary.

Job Requirements

We are looking for someone with experience in HR and finance, excellent administrative and organisational skills, and the ability to manage a varied workload effectively. You will be confident working independently, able to prioritise competing demands and comfortable handling confidential information.
You will have good communication and relationship-building skills with experience of working with office systems, databases and IT. Experience of Xero or similar financial software would be advantageous.
Experience of, or an interest in, the arts and creative sector would be desirable and an understanding of the way arts organisations, artists, venues and creative projects operate would be particularly welcome.
You will be joining a small, committed team where your work will directly support the people, systems and resources that enable Take Art's creative programme taking place across Somerset and the South West.

We've been bringing joy, support, entertainment and inspiration to places where people need it the most for almost 35 years. From 1987 to date we've put on 3200 shows in 260 villages, paying 3250 artists over a million pounds in fees to entertain and enthral over 200 000 audience members.
