The Head of People role leads the People function, ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive service supporting line managers and having oversight of the employee lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding, through performance and reward, to offboarding. The role will ensure that employment law and best practice is adhered to in all People matters.

To ensure a robust People function for the organisation, to maintain continued recruitment and retention of staff through overseeing good-practice operational policies and procedures
To manage the employee lifecycle, identifying and implementing initiatives for improvement
To ensure accurate record keeping for staff including personal details, contractual changes, annual leave and sickness records
To ensure compliance with law and policy on all people matters, by communicating policies and procedures and ensuring they are delivered consistently across the organisation
To have oversight of the wages and salaries budget and ensure that the People team deliver accurate information into the payroll process
To stay informed and up to date with employment law developments and advise management of upcoming changes to ensure continued compliance
To promote EDI throughout all people processes and policies
To support line managers on all employee relations matters, including performance and absence, and to lead on disciplinary procedures
To manage the annual appraisal process
To carry out regular pulse surveys to inform decision making
To be the main point of contact for any union representatives
To oversee recruitment planning including budget management, business case preparation and ensuring suitable job descriptions
To implement recruitment processes including advertising and arranging interviews
To manage the ATS
To set and manage the centralised training budget
To ensure mandatory training is scheduled and completed
To identify training needs with line managers and ensure that staff receive training as appropriate
To provide the Executive Director and Finance Director with payroll forecasts and monitoring as required
To provide updates for the Board as required by the Executive Director
To provide People practice insight and reporting on an ad hoc basis as required
