Job summary

Halfords Autocentres is hiring a Vehicle Technician in Bridgend. The role offers a base salary up to £34,000 with an uncapped monthly bonus averaging £6,600 and an on-target earnings potential of £40,600 per year. Qualified staff can gain an MOT Tester licence with salary uplift on completion.

You will perform servicing, diagnostics, and repairs, including complex tasks like clutch or timing belt work, and you may undertake MOT testing to DVSA standards as you progress.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years' Vehicle Technician/Mechanic experience in a workshop environment.
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work and more complex repairs and replacements.
• Willing to undertake MOT Tester training & qualification.

Responsibilities

Looking to take the next step in your career? Join Halfords Autocentres as a Vehicle Technician, where you’ll have the opportunity to gain your MOT Tester licence, if not currently held. We’ll support you through this qualification, with a salary increase available on successful completion

As a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic, you'll already be skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You'll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutch and timing belt replacements and diagnostics across vehicle electrical, braking, steering and suspension systems.

Once qualified, you'll also carry out MOT tests to DVSA standards and complete a wide range of vehicle maintenance and repair work. From advanced diagnostics and complex repairs through to routine servicing, you'll ensure every vehicle is maintained and repaired to the highest standard, helping to keep our customers safely on the road.
