Job summary

Halfords Autocentres in Wiltshire is seeking a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to service and repair vehicles, progressing toward MOT tester status. You’ll handle complex diagnostics and repairs, with a pathway to MOT testing under DVSA standards.

A full driving licence is required, with potential salary uplifts on qualification. The role offers a base salary up to £34,640, with on-target earnings up to £41,240 and an uncapped monthly bonus averaging £6,600 per year.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Minimum 4 years' Vehicle Technician/Mechanic experience in a workshop.
• Full driving licence with no more than 9 points.
• Willing to undertake MOT Tester training and qualification.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, repair and replacement work to high standards.
• Carry out MOT tests to DVSA standards when qualified.
• Perform diagnostics across electrical, braking, steering and suspension systems.
• Progress through ATA qualifications and MOT tester training when applicable.

Looking to take the next step in your career? Join Halfords Autocentres as a Vehicle Technician, where you’ll have the opportunity to gain your MOT Tester licence, if not currently held. We’ll support you through this qualification, with a salary increase available on successful completion

As a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic, you'll already be skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You'll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutch and timing belt replacements and diagnostics across vehicle electrical, braking, steering and suspension systems.

Once qualified, you'll also carry out MOT tests to DVSA standards and complete a wide range of vehicle maintenance and repair work. From advanced diagnostics and complex repairs through to routine servicing, you'll ensure every vehicle is maintained and repaired to the highest standard, helping to keep our customers safely on the road.

• Minimum 4 years' Vehicle Technician/Mechanic experience in a workshop environment
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work and more complex repairs and replacements
• Willing to undertake MOT Tester training & qualification.
