Job summary

Rolls-Royce is seeking a Systems Engineer for a 12-month contract based in Derby. You will lead end-to-end systems engineering, validation and verification across programmes, while coaching engineers from other functions and maturing requirements with stakeholders.

The role requires a STEM degree, strong systems thinking, MBSE experience, and familiarity with ISO 15288. A background in aerospace/defence or other regulated sectors and excellent communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Be qualified to degree level in a STEM subject and with experience in a relevant engineering environment.
• Experience deploying Systems Engineering techniques to solve complex problems.
• Familiar with MBSE and ISO 15288 standards.
• Knowledge of aerospace, defence, naval or other highly regulated sectors.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
• Able to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines and externally.

• Lead Systems Engineering, Validation & Verification across the entire product and programme life cycle.
• Integrate with and provide coaching, guidance, and training to engineers from other functions.
• Facilitate elicitation, maturation, and validation of requirements including customer, business, and technical aspects.
• Establish and maintain an information structure for the project and develop/maintain management plans.
• Develop verification strategies, verification plans, and product development plans.
• Develop certification/qualification strategies to satisfy external regulatory bodies.
• Create clearance/acceptance documentation and compile substantiation evidence for customers and regulators.

What you will be doing

• Lead Systems Engineering, Validation & Verification across the entire product and programme life cycle.
• Integrate with and provide coaching, guidance, and training to engineers from other functions.
• Facilitate the elicitation, maturation, and validation of requirements including customer, business, and technical (programme, product, manufacturing, services, facilities and test).
• Establish and maintain an appropriate information structure for the project (Customer, Business, System, Sub-System, and Component) and develop / maintain associated management plans.
• Develop verification strategies, verification plans, and product development plans.
• Develop certification / qualification strategies to satisfy external regulatory bodies.
• Create clearance / acceptance documentation that meets the demands of the project.
• Compile and deliver compliance / substantiation evidence for customers and external regulatory bodies.

Who we are looking for

• Be qualified to degree level in a STEM subject and with experience in a relevant engineering environment (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical or Controls).
• Be capable of systems level thinking and have experience of deploying Systems Engineering techniques to solve complex problems.
• Be familiar with the application of Systems Engineering methodologies and tools, such as MBSE, and relevant standards such as ISO15288.
• Have relevant domain experience (Aerospace, Defence, Naval or other highly regulated sectors).
• Knowledge of gas turbines and associated regulatory requirements and processes would be particularly beneficial.
• Possess excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
• Be able to contribute effectively in a team environment, collaborating across different engineering disciplines and externally.
