Job summary

SC ENGINEERING seeks an experienced Systems Engineer to lead MBSE activities on a Derby project. The role focuses on requirements, architecture, modelling and verification across a complex engineering programme on-site in Derby.

You will develop MBSE models using SysML, manage requirements traceability and support lifecycle processes. 12-month contract with rate £35 per hour, outside IR35, on-site placement.

Qualifications

• Experience in MBSE across complex engineering programmes.
• Strong SysML modelling experience (SysML).
• Proficiency with Cameo/MagicDraw, EA, Capella.
• Experience with DOORS/DOORS Next/Jama/Polarion for requirements management.
• Knowledge of system architecture, interfaces, and verification/validation planning.
• Degree in Systems/Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.

• Lead systems engineering activities across the full engineering lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain system requirements and architectures.
• Carry out requirements analysis, decomposition, allocation and traceability.
• Develop MBSE models using SysML.
• Create functional, physical, behavioural and interface models.

• Support engineering reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PRR).
• Identify technical risks and support mitigation activities.
• Work with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Systems Engineer – Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Systems Engineer with a strong background in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to join a major engineering programme based in Derby.

This is a 12-month contract opportunity working across complex engineering systems, supporting requirements, system architecture, modelling, integration, verification and validation activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead systems engineering activities across the full engineering lifecycle
• Develop and maintain system requirements and architectures
• Carry out requirements analysis, decomposition, allocation and traceability
• Develop MBSE models using SysML
• Create functional, physical, behavioural and interface models
• Define system architectures and interface specifications
• Support system integration, verification and validation activities
• Maintain requirements traceability and digital continuity
• Carry out trade studies and technical analysis
• Support engineering reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR and PRR
• Identify technical risks and support mitigation activities
• Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams

Experience Required:

• Strong Systems Engineering experience within complex engineering programmes
• Previous experience applying MBSE methodologies
• Good working knowledge of SysML
• Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler / MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect or Capella
• Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, DOORS Next, Jama or Polarion
• Strong understanding of requirements management and traceability
• Knowledge of system architecture and interface management
• Experience with verification and validation planning
• Understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes
• Degree in Systems, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is desirable

Previous experience within aerospace, defence or another highly regulated engineering environment would be advantageous.
