Job summary

AmazonWebServices in Greater London is seeking a skilled site reliability engineer to build and operate services for customers in a large-scale, high-availability cloud environment. You will work across Linux systems, automation, and security to keep our platforms resilient.

You will mentor junior team members, develop automation tooling, monitor performance with metrics, and participate in root-cause analyses.

Qualifications

• Experience in site reliability, systems engineering, or related fields.
• Experience with Linux.
• Experience in at least one of Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Bash, Shell.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP and networking protocols (HTTP, DNS) preferred.
• Automation scripting to improve operational efficiency and security.
• Experience in a 24/7 production environment preferred.
• Familiarity with service-oriented architecture and web services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate services for customers in a large-scale, high-availability environment.
• Automate service operations and deployment methods.
• Provide mentoring for junior team members.
• Build and operate cryptography, access, and identity services.
• Troubleshoot Linux issues, implement fixes, and keep software up to date.
• Provide data and metrics to manage capacity and efficiency of services.
• Identify and troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
• Develop solutions to reduce manual toil across the organization.
• Develop, build, deploy, operate, sustain, and grow services in cloud production environments.
• Use trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
