Systems Engineer - Defence

Electus Recruitment Solutions is supporting an organisation that provides immersive training solutions, simulation and defence consultancy. We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to support the delivery of complex defence projects, working across systems design, requirements, architecture, integration and verification. This is an excellent opportunity for a Systems Engineer who enjoys working across the full engineering lifecycle and engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and drive the design, development and implementation of complex systems in line with Defence systems engineering best practice
- Work closely with Project Managers and cross-functional teams to ensure project and product requirements are achieved
- Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation including requirements, architectures, design documentation, test and acceptance plans and Bills of Materials
- Prepare and present technical material for internal and external design reviews
- Support the management of subcontractors and review technical deliverables
- Provide systems engineering and technical support across projects
- Conduct feasibility studies and produce technical reports
- Support Integration, Test and Verification activities and present verification evidence to stakeholders
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of engineering processes
About You
- You will have previous experience in a Systems Engineering role with a strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle and its associated principles.
- Ideally, you will have experience in:
- Specification, design, development and implementation of complex systems
- Requirements management and traceability through to completion
- Developing system architectures using appropriate modelling tools and languages such as SysML
- Integration, Test and Verification within a Defence environment
- Understanding operational contexts and translating customer requirements into technical solutions
- Defence acquisition processes, tools and techniques
- Agile methodologies and ways of working
- Producing and presenting technical reports and engineering documentation
- Experience with synthetic training solutions, Naval defence platforms or related defence systems would be particularly advantageous.
Contract Details
- Location: Portsmouth
- Rate: £400-£550 per day
- IR35: Outside IR35
- Clearance: SC Clearance required to start
- Working pattern: 2-3 days onsite per week with flexibility required to support specific project activities and business requirements including System Acceptance Testing (SyAT), Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and other key project milestones
