Redline Group Ltd currently seeks a Systems Engineer for a permanent, on-site role in Lymington. You will contribute to the development of embedded products across firmware, electronics and mechanical hardware to meet customer requirements with reliable, secure solutions.

The role involves defining architecture, translating needs into technical specifications, and collaborating with Product Management, Sales and other teams throughout the lifecycle to ensure complete system functionality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience with embedded systems and application-specific electronic products.
  • Proficiency in C and C++ programming languages.
  • Knowledge of OS concepts, IP protocols and hardware interfaces.
  • Understanding of electronics and PCB design with EDA tools.
  • Experience with embedded systems debugging tools and techniques.
  • Strong system-level development, integration, testing and validation understanding.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong communication across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to translate customer needs into practical technical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Define embedded system architecture with attention to performance, scalability and power efficiency.
  • Translate user needs into clear technical system requirements.
  • Specify and negotiate firmware, electronics and mechanical hardware requirements.
  • Collaborate with product, sales and other stakeholders to communicate requirements.
  • Work with software, electronics and mechanical teams through the development lifecycle.
  • Assist integration of hardware and software for complete system functionality.
  • Develop and execute system-level test and validation plans.
  • Troubleshoot and debug embedded systems to resolve issues.
  • Ensure systems meet performance, reliability and security targets.
  • Produce comprehensive technical documentation covering design and functionality.

Job description

Our client, a well-established technology business specialising in electronic and embedded systems, are looking for a Systems Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

This is a multidisciplinary engineering role focused on the development of application-specific embedded products, working across firmware, electronics and mechanical hardware to ensure systems meet customer requirements and deliver reliable, efficient and secure solutions.

Key responsibilities of the Systems Engineer job based in Lymington:
  • Support the definition of overall embedded system architecture, considering performance, scalability and power efficiency.
  • Interpret user and customer needs and translate them into clear technical system requirements.
  • Define and negotiate requirements for firmware, electronic and mechanical hardware development.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Sales and other stakeholders to establish and communicate technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with software, electronics and mechanical engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support the integration of hardware and software components to ensure complete system functionality.
  • Develop and execute system-level test and validation plans.
  • Troubleshoot and debug embedded systems to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure systems meet defined performance, reliability and security requirements.
  • Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation covering system design, functionality and requirements.
Experience required for the Systems Engineer job based in Lymington:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience working with embedded systems and application-specific electronic products.
  • Proficiency in C and C++ programming languages.
  • Knowledge of modern operating system concepts, IP protocols and hardware interfaces.
