Role Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Contractor - Systems Engineer to join our team designing and developing high-integrity systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the whole systems engineering lifecycle and work in a multidisciplinary team to design a variety of complex systems. Projects will be of varying levels of size and complexity and both internal and external projects. The successful candidate will be able to apply both MBSE and traditional document based approaches to design definition according to the requirements of the project, applying industry best practice to analyse and validate the proposed architecture(s).

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with stakeholders to enable the elicitation of architectural requirements.
  • Analyse and define system features and attributes to inform the creation of the most appropriate system architecture.
  • Conduct appropriate analysis (use cases, sequence diagrams, simulations, state machines etc.) for defining system behaviour and application to the system architecture. Define Logical architectures to support the definition and allocation of feature/functions.
  • Analyse and define physical architecture and interfaces.
  • Support the system level fault response and reconfiguration activities.
  • Support reliability and safety analysis (e.g. ITD, FMEA, FTA, HARA etc.).
  • Use requirements management tools for capturing requirements at all levels and generating specification documents.
  • Mentor system engineers in the application of the defined system architecture.
  • Ensure that the system architecture effectively supports integration and test activities.
  • Ensure project documentation is correctly managed, maintained and released in line with company processes and standards.
  • Deliver engineering tasks in line with project milestones.
  • Support the governance of requirements management processes, toolchain, and model ontology.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required

  • Experience in a customer‑facing role, providing technical interfaces to customers.
  • Strong presentation, report writing, and communication skills. Ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in engineering of vehicle electrification, power systems and/or renewable energy.
Preferred
  • A degree in Systems Engineering or a degree with Systems Engineering content.
  • Experience in battery management system (BMS) design and implementation.
  • Familiarity with process frameworks e.g. automotive SPICE and systems engineering processes.
  • Experience of variant management, change control and/or a feature‑based approach to system design and implementation.
  • Experience in verification and validation and/or design implementation.
