Churchill College is seeking a talented individual to join the Computing Department as Systems Engineer, to provide full service for its users and support of systems.
The department structure consists of a Head of Department providing overall line management and project planning/strategy, two System Engineers providing 3rd line technical services/support, two System Administrators offering 2nd line technical services/support, one Help-Desk Support Technician providing 1st line technical services/support, one Apprentice and one Help-Desk Support Supervisor providing supervisory oversight to apprentices.
In this role, you will provide third-line management, maintenance and support of the virtual and physical infrastructure services and applications within the College. You will provide support in incident and problem management, diagnosing, resolving and recovering from loss of service to maintain department service uptime targets. You will also provide technical expertise and input to the setting of policies regarding IT provision and its use, along with designing and implementing new systems and ways of working for the College. The role sometimes involves dealing with highly sensitive and/or confidential data in the execution of these duties, so being able to approach these with professionalism and maintain absolute confidentiality is key.
