Lakes College in Workington, Cumbria, is seeking a Graduate Systems & Business Intelligence Developer to join the MIS and Exams team. You’ll gain hands-on experience on real projects from day one, turning data into insights that support students and staff while shaping strategic decisions across the college.

At Lakes College, we’re looking for an ambitious Graduate Systems & Business Intelligence Developer to join our MIS and Exams Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop specialist skills in SQL, Power BI, Business Intelligence, data systems and reporting, while working alongside experienced professionals in a forward-thinking Further Education college.

To thrive in this role you will have strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and an interest in data, technology and business intelligence. Knowledge of SQL and relational databases is essential for this role, as well as excellent communication skills and a desire to learn, innovate and develop professionally.
Experience with Power BI, reporting tools or database development would be advantageous, but your enthusiasm, curiosity and potential are just as important.

5 GCSE’s (including Maths & English or equivalent) essential
Computing Related Degree or Equivalent Experience essential
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products essential
Demonstratable knowledge of Reporting Services and SQL Server (2012 edition and later) essential
Recent and relevant industry experience in sector essential
Experience of data and/or reporting systems. Working with statistics. Experience of report writing essential
Understanding of the external reporting requirements of Colleges (ILR, HEIFES etc.)
Has experience of using data systems and producing reports in an educational context

Demonstrates ability to work under pressure, prioritise and commit to strict deadlines whilst maintaining the quality of output essential

Appropriate experience of SQL, stored procedure creation and maintenance, using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and Reporting Services (SSRS) essential
