Job summary

Leeds College of Building is seeking a Systems Administrator to maintain, evolve, and secure our IT infrastructure across on‑premises and cloud environments. You will work within the IT team, offering hands‑on support and proactive administration, including daily monitoring, backups, deployments and project delivery.

The role requires experience with Windows 11/Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 and cloud services; PowerShell scripting and a related IT degree or certifications are expected.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting Windows 11 and Windows Server, networking technologies, Active Directory, and Microsoft cloud administration (365, Entra, Intune).
• PowerShell scripting capability.
• A Degree in an IT related discipline or equivalent industry certifications.
• Level 2 Maths and English Qualifications.
• Experience in an educational setting and skills including training colleagues; virtualisation; project management; software deployment; cyber security; backups & disaster recovery; cloud-based asset management.

Responsibilities

• Performing routine network maintenance, implementing security measures, managing user accounts, and ensuring effective backups and DR testing.
• Providing comprehensive support for Microsoft 365, including advanced troubleshooting, configuration, and user training.
• Testing, deploying, and documenting new software/hardware; setting up and maintaining onsite and cloud hosted servers.
• Delivering frontline support to staff and students; take responsibility of incidents from first contact through to resolution and assist colleagues with escalations.
• Proactively monitoring systems (network, backups, security alerts) and managing IT assets and updates across server and client endpoints.
