Job summary

Emerald Place is a CAMHS Eating Disorder service for young people aged 8–18. Elysium Healthcare seeks a qualified Family Therapist to join the Therapies Team in Surrey on a 22.5 hour per week basis.

You will deliver systemic family psychotherapy, assess and intervene with families, support staff development, and contribute to risk management within a multidisciplinary CAMHS setting. This role offers supervision, training and clear career development within a national network.

Qualifications

  • Formal Family Therapist qualification required.
  • Experience delivering systemic interventions for families of young people with complex mental health needs.
  • Completed a Qualifying course in Systemic Psychotherapy at Master’s or Doctorate level, accredited by the AFT.
  • Registration with UKCP.
  • Experience with adolescents and their families in CAMHS settings.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver systemic family psychotherapy within the service.
  • Provide systemic assessments and interventions to young people admitted to the ward and their families.
  • Support staff development, training, consultations and staff support.
  • Provide systemic input into the multidisciplinary team.
  • Facilitate carer support groups and contribute to service developments.
  • Perform in-depth risk assessments and crisis planning for at-risk service users.
  • Monitor progress through regular reviews of systemic treatment.

Job description

With a formal Family Therapist qualification, you know one or two things about delivering great healthcare. From a friendly face, to providing professional support, you will join Emerald Place, where you will feel valued and supported. Working 22.5 hours a week, you will work alongside the dedicated team at Emerald Place a specialist CAMHS Eating Disorder service for children and you people aged 8-18 years. You will be responsible for the delivery of systemic family psychotherapy within the service, providing systemic assessments and interventions to young people who have been admitted to the ward and their families or support systems. You will support staff development in the service, and will take on a role in training, consultations and staff support, as well as providing systemic input into the multidisciplinary team. You, problems. Providing in-depth risk-assessments of young people who are at risk to themselves and to be able to formulate both short-term and long-term crisis planning. Providing evidence-based and formulation-driven systemic perspectives to multidisciplinary risk management, care planning and decision-making. Managing a complex caseload as the family therapist working within a multidisciplinary team, as well as facilitating groups where appropriate, such as carer support groups. Monitoring clinical progress through regular reviews of systemic treatment. Engaging and working with young people with a range of mental health needs and developmental difficulties, drawing upon your wealth of theoretical and practical knowledge. Supporting staff development through the provision of training, consultation, formulation meetings and reflective practice sessions. Contributing to service developments within the Therapies Team and wider service. To be successful in this role, you will have will receive regular clinical and professional supervision and will be supported to continue developing your clinical and leadership skills as part of your ongoing career development. You will join a proactive and enthusiastic Therapies Team, as well as having access to a strong network of CAMHS psychological therapists across Elysium Healthcare. There are excellent opportunities for professional development within the role. You will have experience and knowledge in carrying a service users caseload, including assessing service users with complex needs, supporting families and care plans and designing and delivering specialist psychological treatment within CAMHS Eating Disorder services.

  • All applications must have a formal Family Therapist qualification. As a Systemtic Family Therapist, you will be: Providing highly-skilled systemic interventions for the families of young people with severe, complex and persistent mental health problems, learning difficulties and/or developmental, Completed a Qualifying course in Systemic Psychotherapy at Master's or doctorate level, accredited by the AFT Registration with UKCP Experience working with adolescents and their families presenting with complex mental health needs, high-risk behaviours and neurodevelopmental conditions in a CAMHS setting. Where you will be working Address: Emerald Place, Farmfield Drive, Charlwood, Surrey, RH6 0BN Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Elysium Healthcare have worked in partnership to provide a new purpose-built Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Surrey. Emerald Place Clinic is a 12-bed general adolescent inpatient unit for the care and treatment of young people aged 13 up to the age of 18. You will be part of a team who supports young people who have a primary diagnosis of mental illness including those with neurodevelopmental disorders, mild learning disability and autism and those with disordered eating.
