Systemic Family Therapist
Youth In Sight is a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to meeting the needs of adolescents aged 10-18 with complex mental health or emotional dysregulation issues.
The team aims to reduce risk by working early with children and families to prevent family breakdown and residential care admission. They adopt a holistic, coordinated approach, understanding family dynamics through tools like genograms and exploring parental experiences to influence parenting styles.
The therapist's role involves supporting families in challenging unhelpful scripts, fostering safer emotional and physical environments for children, and tailoring interventions based on assessments and family wishes. Work may be individual or joint sessions, facilitating open communication and cohesion within families. Techniques such as systemic questioning are employed to connect family members' thoughts and feelings. Young people also receive one-to-one support to process emotions, manage crises, and develop emotional regulation strategies.
The systemic family therapist works to identify and challenge problematic problem-solving patterns within the family system and broader context using systemic theories and techniques.
If you are passionate about making a difference, we would love to hear from you.
