Overview

2025 sees MoneyGram Haas F1 Team celebrate its tenth season in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. We’re a racing team, not a corporate machine, with three HQs – Kannapolis in the US, Banbury in the UK and Maranello in Italy – and a culture of learning from each other. You’ll be involved in many different areas of the team, with visibility across the business and a clear view of your contribution. The first American Formula 1 team to compete in the sport since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made a points-scoring debut in 2016 and continues to grow with a clear direction and strong performance.

General Summary

Reports to the Trackside Systems Lead Engineer or their designee and is based in Banbury, UK. Supporting all on-car and garage electronic systems at race and test events. Responsible for installation and lifeing management of all Electronics/Systems components. Play an active role in fault investigations and resolutions. Involved in the set-up and pack-up of all equipment before and after an event. Factory tasks include preparing electronic parts for the next event as well as servicing, maintaining and fault managing sensors, harnesses and garage electrical equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Responsible for electrical build and disassembly of the chassis prior to and post event, including fitting harnesses, sensors, termination on-car and mechanical installation of electronic equipment.
  • Manufacture of small to medium harnesses, sensor termination and test box leads.
  • Work closely with the car crew pre, during and post event to ensure electronic parts are delivered to the chassis and installed correctly and safely, maintained during the event and removed for reuse.
  • Ensure standard daily systems technician tasks and additional assigned activities are completed thoroughly, aligned with initial build and event sessions.
  • Carry out other activities as part of the Systems Technician role (not necessarily electronics/systems oriented), such as fitting the ES battery, fitting the floor with car crew, T-Tray testing, wheel fitting/removal and pit stop team participation.
  • During sessions, assist with time-sensitive tasks as directed by the #1 Mechanic.
  • Play an active role in electronic fault investigations, permanent rectifications and temporary solutions; maintain reliability at all times.
  • Work with Trackside Faults team and Systems Engineer to report faults and propose immediate solutions and permanent fixes.
  • Understand high and low voltage electrical design and navigate electrical system drawings to investigate issues and install components correctly.
  • Attend pre- and post-event meetings to provide feedback for improvements to on- and off-car installations, tooling, design standards and procedures.
  • Use the component Lifing System to manage electrical parts, monitor lifing transactions, and maintain stock of electrical components, consumables, test equipment and tooling.
  • Procure electrical parts and consumables for assigned tasks and manufacturing needs; maintain current stock of on-car parts and highlight shortages.
  • Pre- and post-event setup and pack-up of electrical and general garage and office equipment.
  • Promote a safe working environment at the track and in the factory workshop; ensure components, tooling and equipment are in good order and stored correctly.
  • Follow and enforce health and safety regulations at all venues; perform other duties as assigned by the Trackside Systems Lead Engineer or designee.
Education and Work Experience

GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required. Further education including Electrical training to HNC level. Knowledge of Raychem systems 25 and prior experience in a high-level motorsport environment are essential. Ideally hold a 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations certificate, but not essential.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Strong technical background in racing car electrical and electronic systems. Ability to work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time-sensitive situations. Quick decision-making within a scientific and analytical framework. Ability to work well in a team with personnel at all levels.

Equipment and Applications

Use of electrical test meters and hand tools. Soldering equipment use. Harness retention tooling. Factory Cirris testing equipment. Computer literate.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Ability to work in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment with a methodical approach. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally and to work long and flexible hours, including weekends. Role may require lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment with machinery, race cars, 7-post rigs, grinding debris and hazardous fluids. All employees must comply with the Company Health and Safety Policy and related legislation.
