We are currently recruiting a System Technician to join our Layered Reality team at The War of The
Worlds: The Immersive Experience (www.thewaroftheworldsimmersive.com). This is a layered reality
multi-sensory experience set across a vast 22,000 sq/ft, combining music, immersive theatre, virtual
reality, motion simulators and 5D effects.
Position Summary
The System Technician is our entry level Technical role to ensure we deliver this cutting-edge
experience at the optimal level to all guests. As a System Technician, you will play a key role in the
live running of the show, operating and monitoring critical systems that ensure a seamless experience
for our guests. Your primary focus will be on managing the show via QLab, overseeing CCTV
systems to track show flow and scene transitions, and communicating effectively via radio with cast
and crew to coordinate show timing and resolve any issues in real time. This is a great opportunity for
someone looking to grow their experience in live immersive productions, with hands-on involvement in
show control and backstage coordination.
Scope/Responsibilities
● Operate the QLab system during live shows to execute show cues and trigger technical
elements accurately.
● Monitor CCTV feeds to oversee the progression of guests and actors through the experience.
● Communicate clearly via radio to coordinate timing and alert relevant departments of any
issues or delays.
● Liaise with the stage management and technical teams to ensure the performance runs
smoothly and safely.
● Monitor QLab and basic operating systems throughout the live shows
● Respond quickly to unexpected situations during the show, escalating any technical, Cast or
guest concerns to the Management team as needed.
● Support routine system checks and assist in technical rehearsals or maintenance periods
when required.
● Maintain accurate logs of any issues or irregularities encountered during show operation.
Background & Experience
● Experience in live event or theatre environments, preferably with cue-based show control
● Familiarity with CCTV or show monitoring systems.
● Comfortable using two-way radios for real-time communication in a fast-paced setting.
● A basic understanding of technical theatre systems (lighting, sound, AV) is a plus, but not
essential
● A basic understanding of VR systems is preferable, but not essential
