Responsibilities and Requirements for Systems Engineering and Technical Assurance Role
- Exposure to, or an interest in, Systems Engineering and Technical Assurance.
- Experience applying system safety assurance processes in major railway projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively with project delivery teams, management, project leadership, clients, sub-contractors, and other stakeholders.
- High standards of verbal and written communication, capable of explaining technical assurance and system engineering concepts to construction teams.
- Awareness of disciplines involved in major railway projects, their roles, responsibilities, and their relationship to assurance.
- Strong information management and analytical skills to efficiently extract relevant points from large volumes of project information.
- Experience with project information tools and management systems such as MS Office, Enterprise Bentley, Projectwise, or similar.
- Familiarity with requirements management tools, especially IBM Rational DOORS.
- Assist the System Safety Manager in maintaining the System Safety Management Plan.
- Coordinate with construction leads and subcontracts to ensure System Safety activities are planned and executed across multiple assets.
- Produce and submit asset-specific system safety status reports to support assurance during the construction phase of the HS2 London Tunnels project.
- Provide advice on system safety practices and procedures to project teams.
- Prepare and deliver briefings and training to promote system safety competence within the team.
- Report on system safety activities, progress, and issues to the System Safety Manager.
- Contribute to improving technical assurance strategies, processes, and systems.
- Support broader Systems Engineering & Assurance activities, including:
- Tracking system safety assurance deliverables by asset and project phase.
- Maintaining configuration control related to project changes.
- Contributing to activities required for achieving L3 Certification.
