Job summary

Abbott is seeking a System Project Lead to join the Clinical Affairs team. This globally visible role will drive development, implementation and continuous improvement of systems supporting clinical studies, research, and data management across Abbott Diabetes Care.

You will collaborate with UK/US Clinical Affairs teams, Business Systems and external partners to translate business needs into effective technology solutions, ensuring compliance and data integrity across platforms.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business Systems, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with project management methodologies and tools (e.g., MS Project).
• Experience in clinical research or regulated healthcare environments preferred.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a System Project Lead to join our Clinical Affairs team. This is a highly visible global role that will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of systems that support clinical studies, scientific research, and data management activities across Abbott Diabetes Care. Working closely with Clinical Affairs teams in both the UK and US, as well as Business Systems teams and external partners, you will act as a key link between business needs and technology solutions. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities to improve processes, introducing new systems and capabilities, and ensuring existing platforms continue to meet the evolving needs of the organisation.

Main Responsibilities

In this role, you will lead system-related projects from concept through to implementation, collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, evaluate solutions, manage vendors, and ensure successful deployment. You will play a critical role in helping Clinical Affairs teams operate more efficiently by simplifying processes, improving data management, and enabling effective collaboration across global teams.

You will work closely with Clinical Affairs subject matter experts to develop and optimise systems that support clinical studies and scientific activities, while ensuring all solutions remain compliant with data privacy, cybersecurity, validation, and regulatory requirements. You will also support the development of reporting tools, dashboards, and visualisations that provide valuable business insights and improve decision-making.

A key aspect of the role will be driving the adoption of new technologies through training, support, and ongoing engagement with stakeholders. You will continually assess opportunities for process improvement and innovation, ensuring Clinical Affairs has the systems and capabilities needed to support future business growth.

We are looking for a proactive and collaborative systems professional with experience in project management, business systems, systems implementation, or process improvement. You will be comfortable working across multiple functions and geographies, managing competing priorities, and translating complex business requirements into practical and effective technology solutions.

You will have a degree in Business Systems, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience, together with strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills. Experience using project management tools such as Microsoft Project is essential.

Experience within Clinical Research, Medical Devices, Healthcare, Life Sciences, or another regulated industry would be advantageous, but is not essential. Most importantly, you will bring a passion for technology, continuous improvement, and delivering solutions that create meaningful business impact.
