System Development Engineer, WW AMZL Innovation and Design Engineering

Amazon, founded in 1995, aims to be the world's most customer-centric company. Amazon Logistics (AMZL) seeks an experienced, innovative, and customer-obsessed Software Development Engineer to lead the development of new robotic products for our Delivery Station of the future. This role involves working within the Amazon Logistics Innovation Engineering team to strategize, define, and manage robotics software development for AMZL Delivery Stations.

This position requires individuals with robotics, engineering, planning, and analytical skills who are entrepreneurial-minded. The successful candidate will influence Amazon's last mile automation roadmap by collaborating with Robotics, Software Tech Teams, Process Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and Engineering teams to enhance the customer shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and improve software for complex mechatronics products.
• Design and develop software architecture for new automation and robotics concepts.
• Integrate new vendor technologies into AMZL's software architecture.
• Test and commission software on machines in Innovation Centers and operational sites.

Required Skills

• Advanced expertise in industrial automation systems (e.g., TIA Portal, Codesys, HMI, VFDs, Servo Drives, Industrial Fieldbuses).
• Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (TCP/IP, OPC-UA).
• Hands-on experience with camera systems and Linux OS (preferred).
• Familiarity with version control systems like git.
• Knowledge of Object-Oriented Industrial Programming (OOIP).
• Experience managing automation software development lifecycle.
• Strong project management and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication skills across diverse cultural contexts.
• Knowledge of safety machinery standards and certification processes.
• Experience with automation solutions such as conveyors, sorters, and robotic work cells.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience programming in languages such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
• Experience in systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement.
• Experience with tools for building, testing, and monitoring software.
• Non-internship professional software/system development experience.
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals.
• Experience designing or architecting systems with reliable and scalable design patterns.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with PowerShell, Python, Ruby, or Java.
• Experience working in an Agile environment using Scrum methodology.
