System Designer - Audio and Lighting

Job summary

Prospero Integrated is seeking a systems designer to craft end-to-end audio and lighting solutions for temporary events and live productions. You will develop detailed drawings, layouts and BOMs, using Vectorworks and ConnectCAD, while coordinating with project managers, venues and crews to meet budgets and schedules.

The role requires strong knowledge of professional audio and lighting systems, documentation practices, and ongoing development of technical standards to support high-quality event

Responsibilities

• Evaluate temporary event and live production requirements and develop appropriate audio and/or lighting system solutions.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Technical Managers, sales teams, venues and operational crews to understand project requirements and deliver practical technical solutions.
• Produce detailed drawings, schematics, layouts, renderings, access plans, bills of materials and scopes of work.
• Use Vectorworks, ConnectCAD and other technical design platforms to create accurate and professional documentation.
• Adapt designs to meet project budgets, available inventory, venue requirements and commercial considerations.
• Identify the appropriate labour skills and competencies required to deliver and operate each system.
• Maintain high standards of systems design, documentation, planning and equipment allocation.
• For audio projects, you will ideally have strong knowledge of end-to-end professional audio systems, including PA and loudspeaker systems, digital audio consoles, RF and wireless systems, audio networking, signal distribution, control systems, cabling and infrastructure, temporary event audio delivery, system optimisation and technical troubleshooting.
• For lighting projects, you will ideally have strong knowledge of end-to-end professional lighting systems, including moving lights and conventional fixtures, LED and modern lighting technologies, lighting control systems, DMX and networking, Art-Net and sACN, signal distribution, cabling and infrastructure, power distribution, rigging and lighting interface requirements, temporary event lighting delivery.
• Apply current industry practices, relevant national and international standards and temporary event requirements to system designs, contribute to standards, templates and documentation, maintain knowledge of current technologies, keep up to date with new products, and develop adaptive design approaches.
• Work with procurement teams to identify suitable equipment and suppliers based on performance, availability, support and commercial requirements.
• Carry out post-event reviews to assess design performance and propose improvements.
• Undertake relevant manufacturer and advanced industry training.

• LED and modern lighting technologies
• Lighting control systems
• DMX and networking
• Art-Net and sACN
• Signal distribution
• Cabling and infrastructure
• Power distribution
• Rigging and lighting interface requirements
• Temporary event lighting delivery

Design Standards & Technical Development

• Apply current industry practices, relevant national and international standards and temporary event requirements to system designs.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of technical design standards, templates, processes and documentation.
• Maintain strong knowledge of current audio, lighting and control technologies.
• Keep up to date with new products, manufacturers and emerging technologies.
• Develop an adaptive and forward-thinking approach to systems design.
• Work with procurement teams to identify suitable equipment and suppliers based on performance, availability, support and commercial requirements.
• Carry out post-event reviews to assess how effectively the original design performed against project objectives.
• Recommend improvements to future systems, processes and design practices.
• Undertake relevant manufacturer and advanced industry training.
