Job description

MBDA is seeking a Weapon System Architect responsible for supporting the creation of architectural artefacts within the Dragonfire Weapon System boundary.

Salary: Circa £53,000 depending on experience

Hybrid Working: 3-4 days on-site per week due to workload

Security Clearance: British Citizen required

Note: Successful candidates will need to undergo HMG BPSS checks, managed by MBDA Security Team.

The Opportunity:

Join the DragonFire programme, a cutting-edge weapon system development project focusing on Laser Directed Energy Weapons (LDEW). The project involves extensive industry and customer engagement, with recent successes in trials.

We seek motivated candidates to develop DragonFire into a deployable, world-class LDEW air defence system, engaging in requirements, design, performance analysis, and certification activities.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in architecting complex systems, including MBSE practices
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative approach
  • Ability to learn quickly and handle complex problems
  • Proficiency with Rhapsody, SysML, IBM Engineering Workflow Management, and ideally DOORS NG

Preferred experience includes:

  • Managing system requirements and compliance
  • Requirement flow-down to design and implementation teams
  • Risk management and trade studies
  • Technical mediation and stakeholder communication

Additional qualities:

  • Ability to communicate technical info clearly
  • Timely delivery of outputs
  • Building strong relationships and sharing knowledge
  • Knowledge of lasers is a plus
  • Passion and persistence
