Job description

Synthetic Organic Chemist
£33,000 - £48,000 + Relocation + Excellent Benefits
Based in Essex, UK.

Are you an experienced synthetic chemist with a broad understanding of organic reactions?

Would you like to work for a leading drug discovery and development organisation?

My client is a leading international contract research organisation partnering with a broad range of organisations from global blue chip pharmaceutical companies down to virtual biotechs. They operate across Europe, the US and Asia and have successfully facilitated the delivery of complex and challenging biologically active NCEs to support novel drug discovery projects. Due to ongoing expansion, they are looking to hire a skilled Synthetic Organic Chemist to join their state-of-the-art laboratory facility in Essex.

The Synthetic Organic Chemist will be responsible for the design, synthesis and purification of isotopically labelled, biologically active compounds used in regulatory studies to support the development and registration of new products. Experience in handling radioisotopes would be an advantage but is not essential as a comprehensive Radiochemistry training program will be provided. The company runs a GLP/GMP facility and training will be given in this area.

To be considered for the Synthetic Organic Chemist role you will need the following, skills, experience and qualifications;

  • A broad understanding of organic reactions and a passion for working at the bench using a diverse range of synthetic routes.
  • A Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry or a BSc/MSc degree in chemistry with notable working experience within a synthetic organic chemistry environment.
  • The ability to apply your practical skills to address a wide range of targets and multi-step reactions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to deliver results to tight deadlines.

My client offers an exciting and scientifically challenging working environment, with state of the art synthetic organic chemistry.
