Job summary

Mercor is assembling a panel of chemistry and chemical safety experts to red-team frontier AI models, testing whether a model can judge misuse potential. You will craft prompts, assess model replies, and develop rational reference answers with clear explanations for why a response is acceptable or not.

This role emphasizes precise technical writing and sustained work on misuse scenarios in chemistry, including sample or link in applications.

Qualifications

• Background in synthetic route design and development in pharma, agrochemical, or fine chemicals.
• Experience in process chemistry and reaction engineering with attention to impurity control.
• Experience scaling from bench to pilot to plant with safety review.
• Familiarity with precursor sourcing and regulatory chemistry.

Responsibilities

• Write challenging single-turn prompts in three levels: benign, dual-use, adversarial.
• Evaluate model responses against a defined policy standard and judge appropriateness.
• Write the reference answer with technical reasoning and correct handling guidance.
