Job Description:

Company Introduction

CC Bio is an award-winning synthetic biology company, a subsidiary of Precisio Biotix Inc. since 2024, based in West London at the Imperial Translation and Innovation Hub (iHUB).

We develop potent antimicrobial enzymes as next-generation therapeutics, leveraging systems biology, synthetic biology, microbiology, and proprietary ML-based platforms for enzyme discovery and engineering.

Description of Your Role

Seeking a motivated molecular/synthetic biologist to join our London-based team in August 2025 for a 24-month grant-funded project in Women’s Health. You will work closely with bioinformaticians and microbiologists to develop enzyme-based therapeutics targeting anaerobic pathogens.

Your main activities include conducting assays to discover, design, produce, purify, and characterize candidate proteins against clinical vaginal pathogens.

What You’ll Do in This Role

Identify enzyme libraries via our Zeus platform, refactor gene sequences, design recombinant production strategies, and purify proteins in high-throughput formats.

Responsibilities include vector and primer design, cloning, protein expression optimization, purification, validation, data recording, and interpretation to support project goals.

Requirements

  • At least MSc or preferably PhD in molecular biology, synthetic biology, biochemistry, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of DNA assembly, cloning techniques, and molecular procedures.
  • Experience with E. coli and other microorganisms for recombinant protein expression.
  • Familiarity with ÄKTA chromatography systems.
  • Ability to independently design experiments and review literature.

Additional Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Experience in a biotech commercial environment.
  • Automation skills for protein purification.
  • Experience with protein stability studies or structural biology techniques.

Working Style

  • Creative, collaborative, receptive to feedback, and motivated by impactful health research projects.
  • Enjoy working independently and as part of a team in a flexible, inclusive environment.

Compensation includes a fixed salary based on experience, access to a fully equipped lab at Imperial College London, flexible working, and generous leave. Our culture promotes inclusivity and equal opportunity.
