Job summary

Miryco Consultants Ltd in London is seeking a Syndicate Accountant, full-time or part-time (3 days per week), to join a growing Lloyd’s-focused financial services business.

You will support financial accounting and reporting within a Lloyd’s environment, interact with actuarial and underwriting teams, and help build robust controls and processes for Solvency II and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

Syndicate Accountant (Full-time or Part-time)

Type: Permanent – Full-time or Part-time (3 days per week)

Miryco Consultants is working with a new and ambitious Lloyd’s-focused financial services business that is looking to appoint an experienced Syndicate Accountant to join its growing finance function.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance accountant to join a business at an exciting stage of development and play an important role in establishing robust finance processes, controls and reporting capabilities.

The role can be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis (3 days per week), providing genuine flexibility for the right candidate.

The Role

You will play a key role across the finance function, supporting financial accounting, reporting, controls and regulatory requirements within a Lloyd’s environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting end-to-end accounting and financial reporting activities.
• Preparing and reviewing management accounts and financial information.
• Supporting Lloyd’s regulatory and financial reporting and ensuring submissions are accurate and timely.
• Managing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating accounting differences.
• Supporting accounting for premiums, claims, acquisition costs, reinsurance and other insurance-related transactions.
• Working closely with actuarial and other stakeholders on financial data and reporting requirements.
• Supporting Solvency II / Solvency UK and other regulatory reporting.
• Assisting with budgets, forecasts and management information.
• Supporting year-end statutory accounts and audit processes.
• Maintaining and enhancing appropriate financial controls and processes.
• Working with external providers and stakeholders to ensure finance activities operate effectively.
• Supporting the development and implementation of new finance processes and reporting capabilities.
• Providing finance input into wider business projects and initiatives.

About You

We are looking for an accountant with experience within Lloyd’s, insurance or the wider London insurance market, with a strong understanding of insurance accounting and financial reporting.

Ideally, you will have:

• Qualified accountant status (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
• Previous experience in syndicate accounting, insurance accounting or Lloyd’s finance.
• Strong understanding of the Lloyd’s market.
• Experience with insurance-related accounting, including premiums, claims and reinsurance.
• Good understanding of regulatory and statutory reporting requirements.
• Strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail.
• A strong control mindset and a structured approach to problem solving.
• The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with actuarial, underwriting, finance and operational stakeholders.
• A proactive approach and willingness to help build and improve processes.
