Job summary

Gravitas Group in London is seeking a Syndicate Accountant to support a Lloyd’s syndicate and related entities. This role offers a strong entry from practice into industry, with exposure to close processes, reporting under UK GAAP, and Group reporting under US GAAP.

You will help strengthen controls, drive process improvements through automation and data analytics, and partner with IT and Data/Analytics to implement technology-enabled solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting/Finance (or similar).
• ACA / ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent) preferred.
• Big 4 or leading practice strongly desired.
• Exposure to Lloyd’s, insurance/reinsurance, or regulated financial services is advantageous.
• Strong analytical mindset; confident challenging status quo and improving processes.
• Genuine interest in automation/AI and modern finance tooling.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end/quarter-end close for the syndicate and related entities (Group reporting under US GAAP; local reporting under UK GAAP).
• Maintain general ledger integrity, investigate variances/unusual balances, and strengthen financial controls.
• Identify and deliver continuous improvement opportunities (simplify, standardise, automate) across accounting/reporting processes.
• Partner with Finance, IT and Data/Analytics to implement technology-enabled solutions (automation/AI) to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Support audit activity, acting as a key liaison for internal/external auditors and providing analysis/documentation as required.

The role
We’re hiring an Accountant to support a Lloyd’s syndicate and related entities. This is a strong first move from practice into industry (or a step within the market), offering broad exposure across close, controls, reporting, audit and change/automation initiatives. The team is actively investing in process improvement, automation, data analytics and emerging AI tools, so you’ll have scope to drive real efficiency and operating model improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Support month-end/quarter-end close for the syndicate and related entities (Group reporting under US GAAP; local reporting under UK GAAP)
