Job summary

JSS is seeking a Syndicate Accountant to join the London Syndicate Finance team. The role covers Lloyd’s (UK GAAP) and Group (US GAAP) reporting, with responsibilities from regulatory returns to trial balance preparation.

You will oversee offshore bookkeeping, review reconciliations, and support SOX controls for Group reporting while liaising with external auditors to improve processes.

Qualifications

• Syndicate accounting experience, ideally in Lloyd’s managing agency or Lloyd’s syndicates.
• Strong knowledge of Lloyd’s reporting, including YOA allocation and Lloyd’s Central Accounting.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Lloyd’s regulatory returns production.
• Oversee offshore bookkeeping team and balance sheet controls.
• Review and sign off key reconciliations ahead of Lloyd’s reporting.
• Prepare the trial balance, including the RIESCO process.
• Support SOX controls for Group reporting.
• Liaise with external auditors and drive process improvements.

Key responsibilities:

• Reviewing and signing off key reconciliations ahead of Lloyd’s reporting
• Preparing the trial balance, including the RIESCO process
• Supporting SOX controls for Group reporting
• Liaising with external auditors and improving processes

About You:

• Syndicate accounting experience, either in a Lloyd’s managing agency or auditing Lloyd’s syndicates
• Qualified or part-qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
• Knowledge of Lloyd’s reporting, including YOA allocation and Lloyd’s Central Accounting
• Strong Excel skills - SUN and Q&A
• Strong attention to detail and comfortable working to deadlines
