Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking a Field Service Engineer (Switchgear) to join a global engineering services team delivering maintenance, diagnostics and technical support for LV/MV switchgear across industrial, commercial and critical infrastructure sites.

The ideal candidate has a degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, at least 3 years in field service, strong fault-finding and the ability to read electrical drawings, and holds a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years' experience within a Field Service, Maintenance or Service Engineering environment.
• Strong knowledge of LV and/or MV switchgear systems and power distribution equipment.
• Experience carrying out fault finding, diagnostics, inspection and testing activities.
• Understanding of electrical safety procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
• Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Experience with OEM switchgear manufacturers or critical power infrastructure environments would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on LV and MV switchgear and associated power distribution equipment.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Perform inspection, testing, troubleshooting and repair activities to minimise customer downtime.
• Deliver field service activities safely, efficiently and in line with customer requirements and company standards.
• Produce detailed service reports, material requirements and maintenance documentation.
• Build strong relationships with customers, providing technical advice and identifying opportunities for system improvements.
• Ensure all works are completed in accordance with health, safety, quality and environmental procedures.
• Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians where required.
• Participate in commissioning, upgrades and modernisation projects when necessary.
• Represent the business professionally whilst providing a high level of customer service.
