Job description

GLL is currently looking for swimming teachers based at Robinson Pools and Fitness in Bedford.

Join us as a swimming teacher and play a key role in developing our customers' swimming skills. This is your chance to deliver safe, consistent swimming lessons that give people real confidence in the water – an invaluable life skill.

As an experienced swimming teacher, you’ll thrive on supporting people to achieve their potential, taking into account each pupil’s nature and needs. Swimming teachers draw on their knowledge of practices, progression, and teaching points, applying them effectively. While some administration is involved, most of your time will be spent teaching people to become stronger swimmers, whether in groups or one-to-one, and from children to adults.

We’re looking for swimming teachers who are approachable, friendly, patient, and able to build trust, motivate pupils, and encourage progress with praise. You’ll need to be STA Award or Certificate level or Swim England Level 2 qualified, and ideally have the National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches. Knowledge of health, safety, and relevant legislation, along with an understanding of Child Protection Policy, is essential.

What you will do:

1. Maintain a positive image of the Centre by providing a welcoming, helpful, and professional poolside service.
2. Comply with the ‘Customer Charter’ to ensure standards are maintained.
3. Ensure the safety and control of pupils during lessons, enforcing all relevant regulations.
4. Encourage pupils to enroll in further courses and short courses.
5. Assist with new enrollments and re-enrollments as required.
6. Follow the Safeguarding Policy, Behaviour Policy, and other relevant procedures.
7. Record and complete relevant awards, ensuring standards are met.
8. Teach according to the standards set within the product manual for consistency across centres.
