Job summary

Arup is seeking an enthusiastic industrial placement student in Bristol to support our structural team across local, national or global projects. You will shadow an experienced engineer and contribute to early-stage design, calculations, modelling and documentation, with a focus on low-carbon, practical solutions.

The 10–12 month internship offers mentorship towards professional qualification, exposure to diverse sectors, and opportunities to work on iconic projects within a supportive community.

Qualifications

• Studying towards a Degree in General, Civil, Structural, Design or Architectural Engineering, at 2.1 or above.
• Studying, or have studied, an ICE accredited course.
• A passion for structural engineering.

Responsibilities

• Shadowing an experienced Engineer within the team.
• Helping in the early stages of a project that could include designing buildings that are beautiful & effective from a low carbon point of view.
• Carrying out structural calculations, modelling, engineering, computer, and hand analysis.
• Finding structural engineering solutions that are economical and practical, minimising embodied carbon.
• Building computer & structural engineering models to monitor how the building behaves structurally.
• Learning the craft of being a structural Engineer and developing professional qualifications.
