A leading company in the rail industry is seeking a graduate to join their Sustainable Development team. This role involves managing sustainability projects, collaborating with various stakeholders, and contributing to positive environmental change. You will gain hands-on experience through placements across the organization and member companies, enhancing your understanding of sustainability in practice.
The RSSB Sustainable Development team collaborates with government and industry to ensure sustainability policy objectives across social and environmental topics are identified, understood, and managed within the rail industry. The team provides technical leadership on emissions, noise, air quality, social sustainability, inclusion, climate adaptation, and biodiversity management.
RSSB delivers industry-wide research projects, tools, and advisory services aimed at creating a more sustainable railway. It also coordinates technical sustainability working groups and industry forums. Through training and leadership development, we work with industry partners to foster a sustainability culture within GB rail.
Over 24 months, you will work across the Sustainable Development team, other RSSB departments, and the wider industry to support sustainable rail initiatives. You will gain insights into industry collaboration and sustainability challenges. You will rotate through various placements within the team, gaining broad experience and collaborating with other departments. External placements with member organizations, such as train operating companies, will also be part of your development, providing practical sustainability experience and industry relationships.
