The Opportunity

Working in our Host Cities team, we focus on helping cities consider, bid, plan, and host major events around the world while also delivering long-term legacy benefits for all citizens, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Our projects include Olympic, Pan American, and Commonwealth Games, FIFA World Cups, and other major events.

As a graduate, you will assist our team in delivering successful outcomes for our clients and stakeholders. Your role includes conducting research and participating in all aspects of project planning and delivery.

As the sector undergoes digital transformation, you will develop new ways of working to help our clients embrace digital benefits for better project delivery.

A key part of the role involves bringing people together around shared goals and facilitating processes and narratives so that all stakeholders can achieve their long-term ambitions through major events.

We have developed collaborations with leading thinkers, lobbyists, and drivers of cities and major events, including:

  • National and City governments and mayors
  • Sporting Federations and Bodies
  • Major franchise and interested bodies
  • Property developers and regeneration companies
  • Clients of major infrastructure projects such as rail, airports, highways, and ports

The Host Cities team is part of our Integrated City Planning group in London, offering opportunities to work with professionals in City Economics, City Operations, Urban Design, Landscaping, Transport Planning, Energy, and Sustainability. This group provides strategy, planning, economic, and financial consulting services to high-profile clients.

We are seeking graduates to join our London-based Host Cities team of experienced professionals.

A personal interest in cities, and appreciation for their unique aspects like culture, transport, housing, heritage, and social infrastructure, is desirable.

Qualifications, Attributes, and Skills
  • An undergraduate or master's degree in architecture, urban design, geography, business, planning, urban studies, with a 2:1 or higher (or equivalent), preferably with placement experience
  • An interest in sport is desirable but not essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Ability to analyze data and maps
  • Skill in interpreting client and stakeholder needs
  • Strategic thinking for complex issues
  • Experience in research methods and project execution
  • Additional skills like GIS, statistical analysis, and graphic design are beneficial but not required
  • Excellent drawing and presentation skills, including 3D modelling and graphics
  • Experience with digital data management tools is a plus
  • Programming skills to support digital initiatives are advantageous
  • Knowledge of sustainable development is desirable
