Location: London (UK)

Role

Join an innovative climate research institute dedicated to advancing the understanding and application of climate risk assessments, developing methodologies and insights on decarbonisation and climate risk resilience. This role focuses on how advancements in engineering, science, and construction can enhance sustainability and resilience across the lifecycle of companies. You will identify, quantify, and assess the cost and effectiveness of strategies and technologies to drive decarbonization and resilience across sectors including infrastructure, real estate, fashion, construction, and public works.

Your insights will help clients in the financial sector quantify and understand climate-related risks and opportunities.

You will work in a collaborative environment, leveraging scientific research to deliver methodologies that support decision-making across industries.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze how technological innovations can drive decarbonization across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and enhance resilience against risks like flooding, storms, and wildfires.
  • Develop methodologies for costing decarbonization and resilience strategies, incorporating lifecycle assessments, cost-benefit analyses, and financial modeling.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create tools and models for climate risk assessments.
  • Engage with the financial sector and industry to align research with needs and regulations.
  • Publish research in scientific journals and contribute to conferences and industry forums.
  • Stay informed on climate policies, technological advancements, and market trends to incorporate into assessments.
Requirements
  • A master’s degree in climate science, civil and environmental engineering, economics, supply chain management, financial modeling, or related fields.
  • Strong expertise in assessing, designing, and costing climate resilience strategies.
  • Proven ability to conduct interdisciplinary research and develop practical applications.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with the financial sector, climate disclosures, and sustainability frameworks is a plus.
