Job summary

International Council on Mining and Metals is seeking a Programme Support Officer for a 10–12 month full-time placement in London. This role targets second-year students to gain experience in sustainability and mining within a fast-paced, international organisation.

You will work with a manager to develop objectives, support administration, and engage with members and the Communications team to aid in messaging and events.

Qualifications

• Planning, numeracy and administrative skills; ability to undertake several tasks in parallel.
• Strong writing and communication skills; ability to represent the organisation in a professional way.
• Currently studying for a Bachelor’s degree with course content directly relevant to ICMM’s sustainable development agenda.
• Knowledge/experience of issues related to social and economic development, environment, sustainable development, or corporate social responsibility.
• Advantageous: knowledge in water/biodiversity, climate change, innovation, human rights, Indigenous Peoples, governance & transparency, and worker and community health and safety.
• Knowledge/experience of the mining and/or other extractive industries.

Responsibilities

• Manage and administer tasks; understand ICMM’s work plan and priorities.
• Support organisation of events and meetings, e.g., forums and workshops; prepare notes and agendas.
• Assist with service agreements, contracts, invoices, and record-keeping.
• Develop relationships with members and external organisations; collaborate with ICMM staff on cross-cutting responsibilities.
• Support desk-top research and analysis of sustainability reports and performance data; contribute to projects and initiatives.
