Job summary

Department for Transport is seeking an Operational Sustainability Lead to drive sustainability performance across the DfT estate and agency network. The role will oversee strategy development, data-led reporting and cross-government collaboration to embed environmental objectives in daily operations.

You will lead on Greening Government commitments, prepare major reports and manage multifaceted environmental projects with stakeholders nationwide, offering strategic direction and governance

Qualifications

• Significant professional expertise in management roles leading on environmental issues in real estate and FM/property contexts.
• Experience in government reporting, including Greening Government Commitments reporting.
• Experience co-developing policy/reporting documentation with government departments.
• Experience managing complex projects from start to finish and handling related contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead sustainability management, improvement and reporting across DfT Group; ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
• Develop the Sustainability section of the Annual Report and Accounts, including the TCFD return.
• Maintain and renew the DfT Operational Sustainability Strategy with appropriate policies and targets.
• Manage sustainability data and reporting across DfT; oversee contracts and data improvements.
