Job summary

Coventry City Council is looking for a motivated Sustainability Officer to join the Sustainability Team to help deliver Coventry’s Climate Action Plan. You will lead on the Warm Homes Local Grant programme, coordinate diverse sustainability projects and work with partners to reduce emissions and strengthen resilience.

The role requires proactive, organised individuals with strong communication, budgeting and reporting skills, and a commitment to inclusive, community‑focused action across

Qualifications

• Understanding of sustainability and climate change challenges in urban contexts.
• Experience coordinating or delivering projects with deadlines and budgets.
• Knowledge of external funding opportunities and grant management.
• Strong written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to take initiative.
• Good analytical skills and ability to use data for reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate sustainability projects to ensure on-time delivery within resources.
• Deliver the Warm Homes Local Grant programme and support energy efficiency improvements.
• Identify funding opportunities, prepare bids and manage grants.
• Engage residents, communities, businesses and partners in climate action.
• Monitor project performance, manage risks and budgets, report progress.
• Support communications, events and engagement activities promoting sustainability.
