Sustainability Officer
Team: Operations/Sustainability
Responsible to: Head of Sustainability
Purpose:
Support the implementation and management of the sustainability plan aligned with the England Golf Strategy 2025-2030, focusing on education and influence on sustainability.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Implement the England Golf sustainability plan 2025-2030.
- Coordinate education and engagement of stakeholders, counties, and golf clubs.
- Assist in sustainability campaigns and collaborate with the communications team.
- Support sustainability projects with the R&A and other partners.
- Reduce carbon footprint across the organization, including events.
- Ensure sustainable practices at the National Golf Centre.
- Advise on making the workplace greener, working with HR.
- Guide golf clubs on sustainability issues like water, energy, and biodiversity.
- Support the sustainability category in the annual awards.
- Contribute to operational and financial sustainability planning.
- Deputize for the Head of Sustainability as needed.
Location: England Golf Headquarters, Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, with hybrid working options.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Educational attainment demonstrating role competency.
- Understanding of golf facility management and sustainability practices.
- Strong relationship-building skills.
- Ability to influence and empower others.
- Excellent reporting, communication, and public speaking skills.
- Proficiency in office software.
- Supportive, clear communicator respecting diversity.
- Interest or experience in sustainability, business management, or environmental science.
- Budget management experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Degree in relevant fields (business, environmental sciences, engineering, sustainability).
- Experience in carbon footprinting.
- Knowledge of sport and golf organizational structures.
- Experience in business, sport, government, or NGO sectors.
