Job summary

First Military Recruitment is partnering with a national construction business to recruit a Sustainability Manager for a permanent role at the Workington depot. The position leads the sustainability team, drives site-level energy and emissions reporting, and aligns with client requirements and HTUK objectives.

The role requires a degree-level qualification, progression toward ISEF membership, and a strong track record in carbon reduction planning within construction.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of sustainability issues in construction, with willingness to undertake further training.
• Preferably degree level qualification, must be working towards (or hold) ISEF membership at an appropriate level.

Responsibilities

• Manage the sustainability team.
• Develop project specific sustainability management plans aligned to strategy.
• Liaise with project site teams and supply chain to meet client & stake holder sustainability objectives within timeframe.
• Develop communication tools (guidance, training materials, newsletters, alerts) to inform personnel and stakeholders about sustainability issues and performance.
• Assist in data collection and reporting for energy and emission reporting as part of ISO 50001 commitments.
• Identify opportunities to add value or deliver more sustainable solutions in projects.
• Support designers and engineers to use sustainable materials and methods.
• Capture best practices and produce case studies to improve performance.
• Engage with Procurement to drive continuous improvement against HTUK objectives and client requirements.
• Report monthly on project and business sustainability performance.
• Identify opportunities to develop skills and experience to support projects.
