Sustainability Consultant (SAP- OCDEA)

Contract: Permanent, Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week

Reporting to: Senior Sustainability Consultant

Location: Remote (United Kingdom)

AES Sustainability Ltd is an award-winning consultancy firm that works with some of the leading UK housebuilders and developers, delivering high quality energy and sustainability advice and assessments to the construction and property industries.

We’re looking for an OCDEA-qualified Sustainability Consultant to join our growing team. In this remote role, you’ll produce SAP assessments and EPCs for major residential developments, supporting our clients in meeting Part L requirements and achieving their sustainability objectives. If you’re detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about energy efficiency, this is an opportunity to make a real impact while enjoying flexible working and career development.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated sustainability consultant capable of producing energy assessments and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for large national developers using the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) methodology. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building effective working relationships with colleagues and clients. Good attention to detail is essential as the role requires a high degree of accuracy and organisation skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provision of SAP assessments and EPCs to ensure our clients achieve compliance with Part L and EPCs are issued in a timely manner
  • Managing projects comprising a small number of services, including planning and tracking progress against deadlines, coordinating inputs, and escalating issues where necessary
  • Active engagement with the client and design team to ensure that sustainability requirements are taken into consideration and achieved over the lifecycle of the development
  • Providing high quality consultancy and written reports at land purchase and planning stage to ensure that planning requirements are met
  • Utilisation of resources from within the team to ensure that the client receives timely, high-quality advice and assessments

Please note: This list covers the core responsibilities but isn’t exhaustive. As the team continues to grow and develop, there may be additional opportunities to contribute and take on new tasks to support the department.

  • Be an accredited On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor (OCDEA)
  • Be conversant with Building Regulations throughout the UK, with particular expertise in Part L and awareness of how Part O requirements interact with compliance
  • Able to communicate with clients effectively and confidently via telephone, email and face-to-face
  • Excellent computer skills and a good level of general education, particularly in Maths, Science and English
  • Ability to self-manage a busy and time-critical schedule of work
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Client-focused with a commitment to providing high-quality support
  • Experience in delivering Overheating assessments (Part O), PSI Values, or SBEM would be advantageous, and we welcome candidates who are keen to broaden their expertise in these areas.
  • Accredited, with an appropriate governing body, to deliver Section 6 - Certificate of Design (Scotland)
  • Have experience of providing consultancy at planning stage and writing energy/sustainability strategies
  • Have a good working knowledge of non-residential development
  • Have an ability to visualise in 3D and interpret technical drawings
  • Conversant with M&E specifications
