Chelsea Football Club is seeking a part-time, permanent coach to deliver safe, inclusive coaching across Chelsea development activities in Sussex. The role supports school holidays, weekends, and youth programmes, fostering community links with clubs, schools and local authorities.

The ideal candidate will hold FA Level 1 (or equivalent), and up-to-date safeguarding and first aid certificates, with a proactive, reliable, and inclusive approach to coaching and staff development.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of the FA Introduction to Football Coaching qualification (Level 1).
  • In date FA Safeguarding Children and FA Introduction to First Aid in Football certificates.
  • Experience in grassroots football and team environments.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, inclusive and high quality coaching sessions daily across all clubs activities.
  • Engage with local youth clubs, schools and organisations to grow outreach.
  • Support wider team by sharing information and opportunities.
  • Adhere to legislation and club policies; undertake additional duties as required.
  • Mentor and guide sessional workers to promote best practice.

Job description

DEPARTMENT: Commercial, Football Development, Sussex
DIRECT REPORTS: None.
CONTRACT: Part-time permanent role, 20 hours. Any 6 of 7 days (including 4 evenings)
JOB FUNCTION: To deliver safe, inclusive, high quality provision across all activities and provision.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To deliver safe, inclusive and high quality coaching sessions on a daily basis across all Clubs coaching activities ensuring participants have the best Chelsea experience. These to include, but not limited to all In and Out of School activity, Player Development Programme sessions and the various programmes delivered during the school holidays and weekends.
  • To deliver on activity to support, develop, engage and enhance relationships with local youth football clubs/schools/organisations/businesses, leisure centres/local authority/The Club.
  • To deliver on any activity deemed appropriate and reasonable by the Line Manager.
  • To support the wider team by networking and sharing relevant information and opportunities to further enhance the out-reach delivery programme while ensuring financial stability and growth.
  • To carry out duties relevant to legislation and the Clubs policies and procedures.
  • To undertake any Club activity that maybe required in addition to the role.
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:
  • To deliver coaching sessions across the week at no less than 60% of the contracted hours. (The 60% does not include travel and set up/down).
  • To ensure efficiencies at all activities and supporting the wider team in financial growth.
  • To be a positive role model, creating a safe, positive, inclusive and fun environment in which to educate, motivate and inspire young people and other participants ensuring they have a positive Chelsea experience.
  • To build robust relationships with both internal and external customers, local schools, clubs, organisations, businesses, governing bodies and authorities.
  • To help and support CFC Football Development Staff to mentor and guide sessional workers in best practice and professionalism.
  • To sustain and further develop activities through participation growth.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of the new FA Introduction to Football Coaching qualification. (FA Level 1 is the equivalent qualification) working towards a UEFA C-License.
  • In date FA Safeguarding Children course & the FA Introduction to First Aid in Football certificate.
Experience:
  • Been involved in grassroots football as a participant and/or coach.
  • Worked as part of a team within a sporting environment.
Skills and Behaviours:

  • Confident and outgoing personality.
  • Aims to support and improve staff members.
  • Reliable and trustworthy.

  • To create a safe environment and act to protect all young people and vulnerable adults that are either in your care or attending club premises, and report any concerns to the Safeguarding Lead
  • To report any misconduct or suspected misconduct to the HR Department.
