Job summary

James Andrews Recruitment Solutions Ltd, in partnership with a Bristol-based residential property firm, is hiring an experienced Building Surveyor on a permanent basis. The role offers £35,000–£45,000 depending on experience, with the opportunity to work from home five days per week.

You will carry out pre-purchase residential building surveys across Bristol, Bath and surrounding areas, with primary home-based work and local inspections.

Qualifications

• Residential building surveying experience, specifically pre-purchase surveys.
• Ability to inspects properties locally and produce clear surveys.
• Strong report-writing and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out one pre-purchase residential survey per day.
• Attend properties locally near home base.
• Inspect internal/external condition of properties.
• Assess roofs, walls, floors, ceilings, windows, doors, and external areas.
• Identify further investigation needs and gather data for reports.
• Write and finalize survey reports remotely after inspections.
• Manage daily schedule to meet deadlines.

Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a residential property company based in Bristol, who are recruiting for an experienced Building Surveyor to join their Property Management Division on a permanent basis.

The position offers a salary of £35,000–£45,000, dependent on experience, with the opportunity to work from home five days per week.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out pre-purchase residential building surveys across Bristol and the surrounding areas, including Bath. This is an excellent opportunity for a Building Surveyor looking for a predominantly home-based role with local property inspections.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Carrying out one pre-purchase residential building survey per day
• Attending residential properties within a local area close to your home
• Inspecting properties internally and externally to assess their overall condition
• Assessing property elements including roofs, walls, floors, ceilings, windows, doors and external areas
• Identifying areas requiring further investigation or specialist advice
• Gathering all relevant information required to produce accurate survey reports
• Returning home following inspections to write and complete reports remotely
• Producing clear, accurate and professional pre-purchase survey reports for residential clients
• Managing your daily schedule to ensure inspections and reports are completed within the required timescales

Experience required:

• Previous experience carrying out residential building surveys
• Experience undertaking pre-purchase property inspections and producing survey reports
• A good understanding of building defects, property condition and maintenance issues

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

• Full UK Driving Licence
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word
• Experience using CRM systems to record information and complete reports
• Excellent written communication and report-writing skills
• Ability to manage your workload and work independently
