Job summary

Darlington Borough Council is seeking a Surveying and Purchasing Officer within the Environment, Highways and Transport / Construction Services Department in Darlington. This locum, full-time role supports the delivery of public sector projects and works closely with the Surveying & Procurement Manager and Contracts Manager to optimise procurement and project delivery.

Knowledge of public sector procurement processes is desirable.

Responsibilities

Procurement support: obtain quotations, analyze pricing, and process purchase orders per regulations.
Equipment management: arrange hire/purchase of materials and ensure compliance.
Surveying duties: assist site inspections, measurements, and estimates.
Contract management: support tendering, evaluate submissions, monitor performance.
Financial administration: process invoices, allocate projects, support reporting.
Operational coordination: maintain docs and advise on procurement strategies.
Compliance: ensure health and safety standards and related documentation.
