Job summary

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 7 Ward Manager to lead the Day Case Surgical Patients and Elective Post-operative Inpatients unit on the E4 and F6 wards. You will shape care delivery, oversee patient flow, and support a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced surgical environment.

You will provide clinical leadership, ensure safe care, discharge planning, and escalate deteriorations promptly while promoting patient-centred care and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• An experienced registered nurse with post-registration experience in acute surgical or emergency care.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and empower teams.
• Strong operational and organisational skills for patient flow and service delivery.
• Excellent clinical assessment skills with ability to recognise and escalate deterioration.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the surgical pathway.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the ward team on the day case surgical and elective post-op areas.
• Oversee patient flow, discharge planning and nurse-led discharges.
• Ensure safe, patient-centred care in a fast-paced surgical environment.
