University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is seeking a Band 3 Health Care Support Worker for Ward 23 Surgery/Urology. You will assist nurses, perform patient observations, and support clinical procedures while maintaining a safe, clean environment.

Successful applicants should have NVQ Level 3 in care (or be working towards it) and be able to work under pressure, with excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Responsible for own actions, ensuring all patient interactions/observations are communicated to trained staff.
• Show dignity and respect in dealings with patients, staff and visitors.
• Undertake agreed clinical and non-clinical tasks following training, ensuring referral to the appropriate trained staff as appropriate.
• Organise own daily workload e.g. use and cleaning of identified medical and non-medical equipment (beds, hoists etc.).
• Assist with personal patient care e.g. feeding and toileting.
• Support less experienced members of staff in their orientation to the ward and role
• Utilise IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient data
• Support the team in expected clinical events requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort according to patient dependency/clinical need
• Support staff and patients exposed to difficult situations arising in the clinical area e.g. after receipt of bad news or following an unexpected event
• Maintain a clean, safe environment ensuring adherence to Trust standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control at all times.
• Ensure daily cleaning checks are completed and cubicles ready for use.
• Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
