University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is recruiting a Ward Manager (Band 7) for a 12-bed Surgical Ward, covering elective and emergency pathways under a range of surgical specialties. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, maintain KPI performance, uphold governance, safety and quality, and provide visible clinical leadership across shifts.

The role requires the ability to respond to incidents, manage staff wellbeing, and drive service improvement within a respected teaching

Qualifications

  • Experience in ward management and clinical leadership.
  • Strong communication and staff supervision skills.
  • Knowledge of governance, policy and patient safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for governance, safety and quality in the ward.
  • Provide leadership to clinical staff and ensure KPI delivery.
  • Communicate policy and procedures and support staff development.
  • Identify and resolve complex clinical and non-clinical issues and monitor outcomes.

An exciting vacancy has become available for a Ward Manager ( Band 7) for an 12 bedded Surgical Ward . This includes elective and emergency pathway patients, under a wide variety of surgical specialities. This leadership role is essential to maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and to provide a pivotal leadership role., The role is essential to provide this ward area with a high profile, accessible and responsive leader, accountable for clinical staff, service, governance, standards, safety and quality.
  • Accountable for own actions in accordance with Code of Professional Conduct. Will contribute towards corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.
  • Highly developed communication skills enabling maintenance of high quality service and ensuring timely management and resolution of unexpected events and situations. Undertake bleep-holder responsibilities for the area's on a regular basis.
  • A knowledgeable team leader and resource for staff, advising on national, local and Trust policy and procedures/guidelines, ensuring that clinical governance is embedded in practice. Will support staff and users in service and policy development within a defined area/specialty.
  • Responsible for identifying and assessing complex clinical and non-clinical issues, implementing resolutions and monitoring/auditing outcomes.
