Job summary

NHS Scotland invites applications for a Health Care Support Worker in Ward 52, a 24-bed General Surgery unit covering Upper GI and Colorectal specialties. The role requires flexibility across 7-day shifts, with emphasis on patient safety and confidentiality.

PVG clearance is a prerequisite and right to work in the UK must be demonstrated. Ideal candidates will have SVQ3 (or willingness to attain) and may have 12 months of recent acute inpatient experience.

Qualifications

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
• Ideally SVQ3 or willingness to work towards it.
• Minimum 12 months recent acute inpatient experience preferred.
• Additional skills such as venepuncture, cannulation, observation monitoring, ECG, catheterisation are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide care within Ward 52 General Surgery unit.
• Work within a dynamic multidisciplinary team to support patient journeys.
• Meet physical demands including patient manual handling and shifts over 7 days.
